The LNAT universities welcome the assistance of schools and colleges in ensuring that their students sit the LNAT in time.

The following notes and links may be useful to exam officers in schools and colleges.

We also have a briefing sheet on the LNAT (.rtf format)

Here is an A4 poster for you to display to students (.pdf)

Here is a Powerpoint slideshow introducing the LNAT (.ppt) Note: please right-click and choose 'Save download as...'

And here is a basic information sheet you can distribute to your students (.pdf)

Eligibility. Your students need to take the LNAT during the 2009-10 cycle if they are applying for 2010 entry (or deferred entry in 2011) to join undergraduate law programmes at these LNAT-participating universities

Deadlines. The LNAT can be sat on a day and time to suit the candidate. But there are deadlines for registering and sitting the test that vary depending on which LNAT-participating universities your students apply to. More about deadlines

Registration opens for all LNAT candidates on 1 August 2009. Your students will need to register and pay online. Alternatively, you may like to register and pay for your students. If so, you should make sure that they know you are doing this (to avoid multiple registrations of the same person) and that they give their consent. You will need to register and pay for one student at a time. Please note that confirmation is sent by email. We strongly recommend that you give the student's email address, not the school's or college's. You can find out about the online registration system here

Responsibility. In all cases it remains the responsibility of each individual candidate to ensure that he or she is correctly registered for (and correctly sits) the LNAT. LNAT-participating universities will not retrospectively waive the requirement to take the LNAT where candidates miss a deadline by mistake (e.g. because they did not find out about the LNAT in time, or because they forgot to register, or because they expected their school or college to do it for them, or because they were unaware that the school or college had registered them and so did not turn up).

Payment. The test fee must be paid at the time of registration, by major credit card, VISA debit card, or LNAT e-voucher. More about payment

Bursaries. Students receiving certain state benefits (or whose families are receiving certain state benefits) will be able to apply for their LNAT test fee to be reimbursed from our bursary fund

Examination Access Requirements. Different registration procedures apply to candidates with disabilities or other examination access requirements

Test centres. We have test centres all over the world, with a particularly high concentration in the UK. At time of registration, you or your students can choose a test centre from an extensive list. More on test centres

Test centre facilities and conditions are as uniform as possible. Here is a tour of a typical test centre

Identification requirements. There are strict requirements for the presentation of photographic identification by candidates at the test centre. In the UK and in Australia, schools and colleges may be asked to assist in the provision of a suitable identification document for those who have none. We are grateful for your assistance on this front. More about ID

Test times. At the time of registration, a convenient test time is also chosen from a list. If you are considering registering your students, you may like to book them for the same time and place, subject to availability of slots.

Test questions. We have a practice test matching the current configuration of the test. Also a wealth of other useful information about how to prepare. More about preparation

Onscreen testing. The LNAT is an onscreen test taken at a secure testing centre with dedicated servers. It is not an online or internet test and cannot be made available outside our test centres. Screenshots and working model of the onscreen LNAT test

LNAT results. Marks and essays are passed direct to LNAT-participating universities. Later, each candidate is informed of his or her own result by email. More about LNAT results
