Home > Registration > Deadlines in detail

Here are the key dates to note in the 2009-10 LNAT cycle. Please also read the notes at the foot of the page.

Start dates (do not sit the LNAT before the summer holiday as your result will not be carried forward):
LNAT registration begins 1 August 2009
UCAS applications begin 1 September 2009
LNAT test sittings from 1 September 2009

Deadlines if you are applying to Oxford (Oxford will not consider later applications):
Register and book an LNAT test slot by 15 October 2009
Submit UCAS form by 15 October 2009
Sit the LNAT by 1 November 2009

Deadlines for applications to other LNAT universities if you want to guarantee that your application will be considered:
Register and book an LNAT test slot by 15 January 2010
Submit UCAS form by 15 January 2010
Sit the LNAT by 20 January 2010

Making late applications to other LNAT universities (often applies to international applicants - please check with universities):
Register and book an LNAT test slot by 25 June 2010
Submit UCAS form between 16 January and 30 June 2010
Sit the LNAT by 30 June 2010

Special deadlines for applicants to NUI Maynooth are here

Applicants not applying to Oxford are strongly advised to meet the January deadlines if possible. Under UCAS rules universities are permitted but not required to consider late applications. If you are thinking of making a late application please check with the universities concerned to make sure they are still considering applications. More detail on the UCAS website

We also advise you, if possible, to fill in your UCAS form before registering for or taking the LNAT. Then you can enter your unique UCAS application number in our registration system, which will ensure that your results reach the right universities. If you fill in your UCAS form after registering for the LNAT, please log back into the LNAT registration system to add your UCAS application number. More about results dissemination

Don't forget to think about how you are going to pay the test fee before you try to book a test slot. Payment is required at time of booking - no exceptions. The only possible modes of payment are major credit card (Visa, MC, Amex), debit card (Visa only), or LNAT e-voucher. Think ahead! More about payment

You may only sit the LNAT once between 1 September 2009 and 30 June 2010. If you sit it twice during that period, the later sitting of the two will automatically be invalidated and the later result will be void. You will have wasted your money and your time. However, if you decide to re-apply to LNAT-participating universities in a later UCAS year, you may sit the LNAT again in that later UCAS year. Indeed you will have no option but to do so. LNAT results cannot be carried forward from one year to the next.
